I think PayPal offers a great service. From a development stand point they offer multiple ways to integrate their service into a website. IPN, form post, button links, etc. PayPal also offers buyers protection. You can purchase "insurance" from PayPal on your purchase and if there is a problem with the product its really easy to get a refund. One last point to make is there are no setup fee's. If you want to take credit cards from your website all you need to do is setup an account. PayPal takes a fee from every transaction you make. Not a bad deal to get your service accepting credit cards without spending a lot of money up front.

Hope this helps.

have you been hearing bad things about Paypal? It really is a great service! I use it whether I want to send money overseas or in the country.
Paypal has been good for me. I can receive advertising revenue and take donations easily. The downsides compared to a wire transfer is the fees but they aren't that big. Also it takes 10 days to transfer cash from paypal to a bank. Other than that it's good and makes a lot of things possible with minimal hassle.

I have heard bad things but it always seems like from a business point the company is usually right. Example; access a US account from outside the US and I can assure you that account will be locked.

Also, compared to other online payment systems, paypal fees are really really cheap. My best reason for using this great system.
my advice to your account being locked from accessing it from outside the United States, is not to access it from outside the US. how often will you be using your paypal account overseas?

I agree. My example was something I read on a forum. From my stand point if my account was accessed from outside the US I would want them to lock it.

From my expierence, PayPal has been wonderful. However a common thing I'm hearing as a problem is that virtual goods (domains, websites) are getting charge backs by the buyer after they acquire the website or domain. Then the seller has no actual "Proof" they sold the website (no reciept or any physical data), so PayPal freezes their funds and refunds the buyer. So the buyer gets a website or domain for no cost.
I use Paypal for everything, I haven't had a problem with it since I took over my mom's account.

I have read of a few examples of this. It is a bit of a worry. I guess trusting people with paypal for valuable virtual goods is a no no.

If the person is reputable, I trust them. Otherwise, I'd probably best to use something like Escrow.
On The Subject of paypal, I recently found out a little trick that increases the usability of paypal over many websites. If you want to buy something from an online store, and they don't accept paypal, but they do accept Debit cards, then you can use paypal vdebit. It is a little tool located here:
https://www.paypal.com/us/vdebit
You can choose one of the predefined stores or type in another one.

Not many people know about it, hope it helps.
Pay pal would be more useful if account holder in any countries can withdraw the fund into their local accounts. This limit the users for this web site.

Why would you want to do that?
