Escrow services are an effective mean to protect yourself and your work when working as a freelancer. In fact there will be many people giving you a job, but not paying you for what you did.

An escrow service is basically a third party that ensures both you and the job supplier that the work will be done and will get paid. They work as middleman between you and your boss Smile and they charge a commission fee for this.

Have you ever used an escrow service? How did you find it? Comments appreciated Smile

Escrow services are great. Some of the freelance auction sites I've used provide this service and I feel very good about the project when the funds are in escrow. It lets me know once I've done my work that I'm going to get paid!!! Smile

it is an awesome service. It just gives you that sense of security and makes you want to do a better job! You don't have to just use escrow for freelance work it can also be used for eBay, etc.
Sounds like a really useful service. What kind of fees do they charge?

Most of the sites where I try to find projects at offer the service as a part of your account but you do pay for your projects so it works out for them.

Are there any deduction or fee imposed on the escrow service? I used to work for a website, and the website acts as the middlemen. They charged a 20% fee for the job that we did.

Yep, it depends... Some offer the service for free and others make you pay a service fee. I try to use sites that offer the service.
