I'm trying to figure out what maternity leave, if any, I qualify for. Here's the background:
- In California
- Part-time, W2 employee for one company, about 85 hours a month
- Freelance consultant for 2 other companies for about another 80 hours a month
Questions:
- Do I qualify for disability? If so, is it based only off of my W2 salary? What percent of the salary does it pay and for how long?
- Do my freelance taxes pay toward disability? If not, why are they so high (I think an extra 15% self employment tax)?
- Can I continue to freelance a few hours a week if I'm getting disability?
