One way of determing the credibility and popularity of a site is to use Technorati (http://www.technorati.com). It searches by URL rather than keywords. On the page, there is a query box. Enter the url of the site you are interested in, and it will show links to the site. The more links, the better, usually.

How important is it to rank high in Technorati? I'm guessing it's not that important because I haven't heard of people who want someone to make their site rank high in Technorati.
