IMO not only do you need an extra computer but you need a backup Internet connection.

It is always good to have a backup for the computer and ISP. For me, I have a PC and a notebook; but I have only 1 ISP account.

I have a cheap dial up account as my backup.

I don't have a backup internet connection but I don't think I'll have a problem if I really need to use a backup since I can just go to one of friends house and use them for a while.

The Panda Express down the road from me has free access. I've used their service before.

I only have one computer and have begun to budget for a second for exactly the reasons you mention. I can not run my business without having a working computer and an Internet connection.

we had three at one point. I had the laptop under the bed so no one woudlnt step on it, it got too cold and teh screen cracked. So hubby snipped teh wires instead of unplugging and I have a laptop without a screen.
Then the oldest system died. the ABIT motherboard fried after only 7 years! Then my backup went. So we went and got a new emachine.
I definately want a new screen for the laptop but i cant find one, and a backup desktop.

After reading some of these responses, I decided to start saving up for a new laptop, so I at least have a back up computer. Hopefully the one I'm currently using doesn't crash in the meantime.
