Have you managed a team of programmers? If so, how did you get to be their manager?
Luckily not Smile On a serious note, as their manager, bear in mind any eccentricities and working habits. It would be an additional bonus if you have some basic technical knowledge so that they will not try to bs you.

Well, shouldn't the manager have basic technical knowledge anyway before he applies for the job? If he didn't, he would be replaced in a few months.
Not necessary so; you will be surprised that many project managers do not have the slightest ideas of what the project entails.

Hmmm, I guess this could be the case on some cases but I wouldn't count on it if the company is established and has a high rep.

But then again, human errors can always happen.Smile
