Hello All,

I just thought of checking my prospects of being a freelancer. I am a java/web developer working in Toronto.

I know there are thousands of web devs outthere working as freelancers. Maybe this might sound like a very stupid question, but in general on an average howmuch does a freelancer in web/java development usually make per month ( in $US..). I do have a stable job but just wanted to get an idea howmuch extra can I make if I really put 100% into this work.Or is it really worth doing it....

Any thoughts from you guys will be greatly appreciated!!
The amount of money you are going to be able to make a month really depends on your ability to complete projects fast and find new projects. If I had to guess. I would say you would be able to make $200.00 - $500.00 a month pretty easy if you were able to complete 1-3 projects a month.
For a start, try to take on only a small number of projects and not too many. The quality of work that you deliver to your clients should be your major consideration. It is a good time to see if you have the discipline and commitment to your client.

The earnings will come naturally if you got your basics right
I haven't had this experience but I think that andy and liowkc's answers are probably right.
