Hi everyone!

Traffic, Traffic, Traffic! How do we get it? There are lots of possible ways to get traffic. All you need is to look at this list for your reference and check if you have done any of this yet.

Free methods:
Submission to SE's and directories
Article marketing
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings
Social Bookmarking
Etc. etc.

Premium ways: (Should require a budget)
Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Targetted Link backs
Professional SEO services
Ad spaces
Offline campaigns
Etc. etc.

Random and unique traffic is good to any site but getting targetted traffic is what makes the difference. This kind of traffic yields the highest conversion which would determine your site's success. Given a budget, I would always opt for PPC. PPC is a very effective way of getting targetted traffic given the proper treatment. Identify your niche and select the market you want to cater to and start from there. Research also on the keywords your desired market would most likely be looking for. IMO, one should be more focused on getting targetted traffic than just page views. Buying targetted link backs are also effective at getting targetted traffic. It really all boils down to what your site offers to your traffic Wink

Another great way of targetting your desired audience is through forum posting on similar niche with your link on your signature. What I like about forum posting is that it is totally free.

My question is : What methods do you use to draw traffic to your site? Random and targetted alike.

Hoping to hear from you!
Good post. For me I like seeking quality links. I find this to be the best method. That being said, I believe quality links are the hardest to get. It takes a lot of time finding them and just as much time getting the site owner to link back to your site.

PPC are my next choice. Google Adwords is where I spend my money. The key with PPC ads is targeting the right people with a quality ad that generates good clicks. Its very easy to spend a lot of money and not get any return for it.
I personally run an Adserver run by Bronco. The ads are searchable through google so adds to seo and the rest of it. Can be quite costly though, and a lot still depends on your CTR and so on.

How does that help? Since the ads are always changing I can't see how that would help with your SEO.

It's more of an ad server, you choose which ads from a selection will be shown. I'm not expert but that's what I've been told anyway!

I think you are referring to a PPC tool for your ads...
I have good success with seo. Most of my sign ups everyday come from google search. I went on a link submitting campaign for about a month straight just submitting to free and paid directories. I use ad banner cpm campaigns and bidvertiser.

Directory submissions are a good source of targeted and quality link building. Just choose the directories with high PR and traffic and you are on the right track Wink
Just to add.. Here are somethings you may want to consider when choosing which directories to submit to and wich to avoid:

High PR - indication that Google sees some value in the directory.
Well maintained - listed sites are in the proper category
High Traffic - getting traffic could be minimal form directories, but majority are targeted
Kewords ranking high in SERP - Well optimized, shows that the directory is well-marketed and SEO'ed.

Which to avoid:
Link farms that pose as directories
Directories that require reciprocal links
Crappy ones with crappy sites listed
Reference URL's
