Sending a holiday card is a very easy way to keep in touch with your old clients and also show them that you are still around. It doest cost almost anything and can net a nice return (in the form of a project). People have also told me that it also shows a professionalism that is normally reserved for high profile clients. Your local card shop should have the cards you need for business associates.

Make sure you send out the cards with enough time to get there before the holiday. 3-5 days before seems to be good.

I've gotten calls for old clients just to thank me for the card and to offer me new projects.

Just because you freelance doesn't mean you can give your clients the same treatment that big companies give their clients. Always keep that in mind.

This does sound like a good idea. I try to send thank you cards to my big clients after a project. I know this helps.
