I have been thinking about getting a new laptop. I've seen what Dell has to offer but I was hoping to get something different (no Mac). I came across this site Alienware

I am saving up for an alien right now. They are very very powerful, and are really good if your into your huge intricate 3d games, the graphics system is a whopper. Definitely recommend, but I hear Dell is producing some similar hardware without the price tag, and they have all the alien developers onboard with them now.

Yeah, I want to be able to play games and also do some 3D programming. I've done stuff in VRML but now I'm going to move to the DirectX API. So I figure I'm going to need a good machine.

I really would like one of those, they do look really cool. I think I'll have to stick with my Dell though.

After digging around.. Dell have confirmed they have their "budget aliens" going into production sometime this year. I may buy one, if I dont already have an A.L.I.E.N. by then.

Hmmm... This does sound interesting. I bet they will be ready for Christmas. That could be really cool.

Alienware systems always seemed to be way overpriced for what you get. I would suggest shopping around before you buy one.

Their price reflects the fact that they have very high end hardware inside them. They are some of the best laptops for gaming because of their video, memory, and cpu.

Do not assimilate to me!

I have a Dell and it is amazing. You can get a great Dell laptop totally rigged out for 2/3 the price of an Alienware. Alienware's are overpriced and overheat quite a bit.
