Normally, HTML is the bare web minimum. You can extend this into many, a full website may have HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL, JavaScript and possibly even python.

There is no way you use all of them. I am speaking from experience. The most one of our sites has had is XHTML, CSS, MySQL, PHP, and JavaScript. That is quite a bit, but it was a pretty extensive site. You can always hire programmers that specialize in one or two languages. That is what I do.
