This is very narrow since it's only for the NY area in the US, but I thought the idea was interesting enough. Full time free lancers need insurance too. This is basically similar to a guild in medival times. The important thing is it can help you get group insurance for those who don't have it otherwise. I wonder how transferable this idea is for other countries/states. They also post a jobs section as well. Pretty good idea, what do you think?

I think it's a good idea to have an insurance. Hopefully more sites will do this as well although it's probably a high risk for a company on opening an insurance website for freelancers.

Is group insurance more affordable or have better coverage then individual health plans? What is the benefit of joining a group like this for insurance?

In most cases group insurance is more affordable and you get a better insurance coverage for your money.
