Anyone else here doing part time freelancing? I'm finding that clients typically want someone working full time on their projects so it's hard to pick up new clients. Just curious if most of you are full time freelancers or not.
I work part time. I am a full time student and have a job as well.
I'm a part time freelancer. I currently have four on-going internet jobs.
How well does full time pay off and what do you exactly do?
My full time job is pretty good. My official title is "National Tools Co-ordinator" which is basically managing all of the tools/applications that a certain line of business at my company is involved with. My company is a large multinational consulting company. The role is involoving less and less coding, and more and more on the business side. The pay is quite good and the benefits package and stock plan are fantastic.
My reasons for freelancing are to keep my hard skills up to date, and also to make a little bit of spending money on the side. With a child on the way, the extra money definately goes a long way!
That is very cool. Being at college freelancing is nice because I can set my own schedule.
Where does everyone find so many jobs via internet ?
My portfolio is on several sites, and i check very often on the biding jobs but i don't find very interesting jobs... don't know maybe i don't do it the right way....
I think it depends on the type of freelance work you do. For example, I'm only doing this part time, and I am a developer which is what most of the jobs posted on the bidding sites are. I can do simple sites, code fixes, etc in little time and turn around a project quickly. I think it's much harder for good artists like yourself to find too many jobs via the bidding sites since there seems to be so much under cutting of prices.

I suggest that you go to forums such as forums.digitalpoint.com or at sitepoint.com where they have a reputation system.
Maybe you could do a couple of free ones to earn your rep.
You can also participate in their contests and who know, you may be the lucky one to win the prize for the best logo design or something.
Thank you for the reply.
I'll try this website, why not ?
Following the arrival of my son in 2006 I now work part time as creative designer for a company (it means a guaranteed income for those bills...) and also freelance on the side. My goal though, is to be 100% self employed within the next two years as I prefer being "my own boss"

i'm full time freelancer when i'm out of job, and part time when i'm doing a job somewhere, i'm female and hardly find some safe place to do, and have to leave jobs sometime..my last job last only for four hours, that's why i prefer freelance, although it's not that easy to do as well..here you get some freaky clients as well...

I am a part time freelancer, I am a web developer/programmer with a lot of PHP and MySQL knowledge at the same time, AJAX and JavaScript with HTML and CSS.
Just let me know if you have some projects which I can help. Thanks.
I have started back freelancing part time, as I also provide child care for my son.
I agree with previous comments, about using job service sites with a reputation system, that allows you to get a feel for the client you are considering working for.
Also, some sites require escrow for all projects that buyers post, but other sites do not. Be wary of that, as I have accepted projects, been charged a finder's fee by the site, and then not gotten paid for the project.
Another tool I use for searching for jobs is
