I have been part of the freelance market for about eight years on and off.
It's great doing your own thing and getting paid well for it. My most interesting experience was with a packaging design firm which was a great learning experience. I learned that it is imperitive to be as good at managing your invoices as you are at the service you provide. When you are prompt with service and billing you seem to get the respect of the client and begin to build trust and repetition of service.
