I was wondering if I need an Ipod to listen to a podcast on the Internet??? I'm planning on heading over to a site that has podcast and I would like to know.

You do not. Podcast can be played with most players. I will say Apple did do a really good grouping their podcast so they are easy to search.

I agree with Johnny that you do not need an iPod. Think of how many people that does not own an iPod because they cannot afford it. For this reason, I don't think Apple would make podcasts exclusive to iPod buyers.
