Since MS has decided to sell vista as a download I think I'm going to install it on one of my workstations. Anyone else going to give Vista a try?

Is it going to be free, and also will Xbox Live work with Vista???

No. I don't think there is any discount if you download it. You still have to pay the upgrade price. I'm not sure on the XBox live question but if I had to guess I would say yes.

I've seen some news about Xbox's connectivity to Vista and I'm 99.999% sure that it will work in some way.

I'm not surprised. MS has a lot invested in the XBox and it would benefit them to assure compatibility.

Also Xbox Live is part of Microsoft, so thats why they have to make sure it's compatible with Vista.
Since I have a MSDN subscriber subscription, I've installed it already and ran it at home. I didn't get a chance to play with it too long since I quickly discovered that my printer company (Lexmark) didn't have drivers yet. Opps! Oh well, I ran it for about 2 days. At the forefront, it's UI is amazing, very crisp and stlyed very well. The eye-candy is definately there! The obvious changes are the Widgets on the desktop. Nothing crazy new here, widgets have been big in the OS market for years, just taking MS this long to mplement. My biggest problem was things seemed JUST slow enough to annoy me running on my P4 2.4 GHz, 1GB Ram, Radeo 9600 Vid card machine. Things weren't brutally slow, but things just took that extra 1/2 sec - 1 sec to load where you thought "Hmmm, that seemed a little slow". The other big thing was their implementation of increased security "features" This wasn't so good as you'd get popup messages everytime you tried to run anything basically since it wanted to make sure it was legit. Good idea in concept, annoying as hell in practice. The sad thing was it's an all or nothing type feature, you couldn't apply it only in sections you want. It's either on or off. Blah. I probably won't consider installing it again until I get a blazing new machine. XP is a pretty good OS at the end of the day.

I've read TGDaily's article on user feedback about installing Vista and there are a lot of different problems so I think I'll wait until they release service pack 1. Maybe I'll have a new computer by that time. Smile

I just got a new computer & am useing Vista now. I really like it
Basic?
How's the performance like, stephie?
It's performance is great though my main issue with Vista has been problems with Macromedia flash payer. All in All I am happy with it but wouldn't advise anyone to go out of their way to purchase it unless your getting a new PC
I got a new laptop a few weeks ago and I removed Vista and installed XP. I just didn't want to deal with all the problems Vista has right now.
