Which activity is harder - programming a complex 3d game or programming a good antivirus program?

I am going to say the antivirus program, because there are no engines out there that base your application on. That being said you will need to start from the ground up on that application. Because of that I think it would be a little more difficult to build.

not to mention on going maintaence. You have to maintain the virus definition database.
